Description: This file is a part of the Minnesota Groundwater Tracing Database. Groundwater tracing involves introducing a conservative tracer into a karst feature like a sinkhole or a sinking stream and then monitoring for it at groundwater emergences like springs, wells, and groundwater-fed surface water features. This is most often accomplished using fluorescent dyes but heat, salts, amino acids, lycopodium spores, and deuterium have also been used. This dataset shows the input locations for known groundwater traces in Minnesota and contains pertinent descriptive information about each trace including where to find reporting and documentation. See "Lineage" below for a description of how this information was gathered. This database and its various components are not static. Data is added as new traces are conducted/completed or old traces are discovered and archived. Users should check the "Time Period of Content" section below periodically to ensure they have the most up to date data.
